Wessell, Nickel & Gross piano parts
The brand that at some point switched entirely to carbon parts was US mechanics builder Wessell, Nickel & Gross (WNG). They did not just copy the same parts of wood into carbon, but they completely redesigned and rebuilt all the parts. This makes the mechanics very easy for the technician to adjust as required without having to saw, mill and glue.
The components are extremely homogeneous. That is, the flexibility the weight and internal damping are exactly the same for each component. A dream for every piano technician. In addition, the lifespan of the components is many times longer than wood. That, in turn, is every pianist’s dream!
WNG piano parts in my workshop
When restoring or overhauling, I always offer the option of choosing mechanics parts from WNG. I have extensive experience with the parts. Part prices are comparable to premium wooden parts from Renner and Steinway, for example.
The mechanism has proven itself outstanding at conservatoires, studios and concert venues. Top brands like Kawai, Mason & Hamlin and Phoenix would rather not sell without them.
Upgrade to WNG
In this video, I replace the complete mechanism with a Wessell, Nickel & Gross mechanism.
